Some nosy neighbor might wonder about the spoon on my porch roof just outside my bathroom window.

Not sorry to disappoint gossip, but it's not a crack spoon. It's filled with sugar water for the bumblebees that keep landing to rest.

I need to pot some flowers when I can.

Spending more time outside? You may notice HUGE flying around. These are likely to be recently emerged queens, looking for nesting sites to start new colonies. Their life-cycle is fascinating, and beautifully explained by here...

Chickens & Bumblebees
ヒヨコは意外とゴツイ脚しててかっこいい。
クマンバチは首回りのファーがいい。あと飛んでいるとこをスローモーションで見ると、羽の振動が脚にも伝わって震えていて、なんかかわいい。

Day 23 - Jewelweed

Growing in ditches and along creeks, jewelweed blooms from late spring to early fall and is frequently pollinated by hummingbirds and bumblebees. It has been used as a remedy for skin irritation, most notably for poison ivy.

Have you ever wondered what happens to bumblebees in the winter? Only the Queen will survive she will over winter in a snug spot. In the spring she will collect pollen and build a little honeypot. Then having laid her eggs she will sit them like a chicken eating the pollen honey

Our sedum plant at home has finally bloomed and it has been attracting a lot of bees! (Bumblebees & honey bees so far!). I didn’t have my phone at the time, too busy enjoying nature in the moment.
