Since posting the room cutaways last week, I've been getting DMs about the process. The steps are as follows:
1. Make detailed design notes
2. Rough sketch
3. Gather real world refs
4. Build rough 3d
5. Finish

The worlds first jet flying boat fighter certainly inspired commercial artists of the early 1950s.
Here, an advert, a post card and a comic book centre spread cutaway, all feature the Saunders Roe A1; a type who's role was by-passed by history and technology in a few short years.
Zeta and ZZ are the kings of cutaway animation - it's always so smooth and it often helps tie the pilot to the mecha

Each day in October will feature a character from #TamashiManga "dressed up" in a whole new art style.
"Oh man, that's crazy! Almost as crazy as that time I found that kid in the woods." *Queue Cutaway Gag
Most of us love 1950's Eagle cutaways and many of us love V-Bombers too...so ENJOY, it's Saturday and good news is very short supply! 🥴
These artworks date from 1954 to 1958, when the world was a 'simpler' place than it is today...despite the threat of Nuclear Armageddon! 😂
It's finals week here at FZD. Check out these cool room cutaway designs by our term 2 students. This design project calls for 1 vehicle, 1 main room and 1 hidden room for a specific job class (thief, hacker, smuggler, etc.) A bunch more can be seen here: https://t.co/OLcUhp9E5K
Concepts for an older movie project. Day ones know ;) These were what inspired the Mach 5 cutaway drawings.
You can find these developmental sketches in the reissue of the OBLIQUE sketchbook. Link in bio 👆🏿
