I thought it better to do that than just drawing flames or fireballs, which could be tacky. Besides, Zhu Ran refers to himself as the "Fighter of the Crimson Lotus" in the Japanese script. Fire represents change and transformation, the lotus represents rebirth and enlightenment

some concept sketches of ryuketsu. she's a going to be a rushdown-focused shoto. her fireball won't go far, she'll have a dive kick, and she will be able to shoot fireballs in the air but only while jumping forward. i think she'll be a lot of fun to play as :)
