Some screenshots of the process I use to make these portraits..
I start with linework, then add shading, then add where I want my bright light source to be, and finally I add it around bumps and curves to create a ‘glow’

the last of the oc portraits... here is Lillian le Tellier! her magic patron is with darkness and shadows, but shes legally blind and uses magic to navigate around (she can sense where shadows hit objects, but cant see details etc)
