Today I was going to talk about the materials for watercolours. How all my new paints contain honey as binders, not ox Gall. The paper I use is 100% cotton and does not use gelatin. The brushes are synthetic and not animal hair. Instead I painted, so maybe next week.

Schiele became aware of the work of Munch, Toorop & Van Gogh & was inspired by them (1909). From this time Schiele began exploring his sexuality- especially in drawings & watercolours. Self-portrait (1910), Sunflower (1908), Hans Massmann (1909) & Dead Girl (1910)

Some ideas just happen in the head - so having an open mind is crucial.
This piece just appeared when I struggle with painting a normal candle with watercolours.

Can’t believe it’s been over a year of living in this pandemic. Some days waking up to paint can be tough and a struggle. Last April I painted these watercolours.

I hope my art brings some joy to all you in these tough times.

I wouldn’t say I have a best ‘lesson’ more a sequence of lessons. With a year 1 class we worked up to creating moon paintings using watercolours. A lot of sketchbook work learning and playing with tone and texture and watercolour play led to these beautiful pieces

'Ambleside,' (1786) is a particularly good example of Francis Towne's very flat, economical, ‘modern’ watercolours. He was rejected by the Royal Academy 11 times for membership but despite this successfully lived and worked outside of London’s influence.

Hi I am Simon and I run Koala Chess Art. I (We, I never know which to use) have prints, books, hoodies, t shirts and watercolours. Mostly of silly animals and dinosaurs. The watercolours are a bit more "serious". We try to be eco and ethically sound.

I cleaned two sketches of John and Liam to test a watercolour brush but it doesn’t convince me. I found the digital ones more hard to use than the traditional watercolours.

Another kid in watercolours... kids let me go for more simple forms and relax into just painting, so I'm defaulting to them these days.

3 British ducks. Original watercolours. Mandarin, Mallard and Teal. 15cm square in frames. Would quite like these to go in a set and end up in a row on someone’s wall. £150 + p and p for all three.
