There's still a lot of skill in the drawings, they're just ugly. Even when the characters freak out in the original show they still generally have some appeal to them, and the standing-around drawings in APC are pretty ugly. Appeal is subjective but a change definitely occurred.

The ST appealed coz it came out before the Amiga. But when the Amiga arrived, people quickly started to shift to it, if they could afford to. Sidewinder and Paradroid are good examples of games that were good on the ST, but definitely better on the Amiga due to sound/scrolling.
