Last week @esthonwolf introduced me to the art of the French Romanticism artist Gustave Doré. I loved it so much that I've created a #artbot :) Check out @artistdore

@zeke_oniichan, have you met Gustave Moreau @gustave_moreau? I have a feeling you two will get along great 😍

We stuck, nor breath nor motion ;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean..."

Joyeux anniversaire Monsieur Courbet! He was #BornOnThisDay 200 years ago and man, did he have a great beard. Here are two of my favourite paintings, La Rencontre (1854) @museefabre and Un enterrement à Ornans (1549-50) @MuseeOrsay #gustavecourbet #monsieurcourbet
French Realist Gustave Courbet was #BornOnThisDay 1819. His scandalous Le Somneil 1866 bears an intriguing resemblance to Rossetti's illustration for Goblin Market 1862. Possible 'Sleep' model Joanna Hiffernan was also painted by Courbet in 1855-6 predating Rossetti's Lady Lilith
Gustave Courbet was born #otd 200 years ago.
Courbet gives us a taste of the seaside with this painting, ‘The Sea-arch at Etreat’.
Where do you want to explore this summer? ☀️ Besides the Barber of course 😍
