The 1st inhaler was invented by John Mudge in 1778 – to treat coughs with opium. In 1955, George Maison invented the Metered Dose Inhaler– his daughter struggled to used existing nebulizers, hence the pressurized canister. (I'm reminded of how a daughter led to the Polaroid, too)
