Charmion Von Wiegand, whose work is on view in Labyrinth of Forms: Women and Abstraction, 1930–1950, was born in 1896.

A journalist as well as visual artist, von Wiegand was instrumental to the acceptance and understanding of abstraction in the U.S. during that time.
