With so much Tolkien this past week, I figure I can share my take on some of the dwarves who undertook the Quest of Erebor. My aesthetic is very much informed by the film adaptation, imperfect though it may be.

He's not a hero, he's not trying to come off as good when he's not. He's a flawed, greedy asshole, and he's proud of it. He's the character that made me appreciate villains more than heroes, and a lot of characters of mine have aspects of him. Especially his imperfect attitude.
