I'm not savvy in digital arts, but I understand tracing is copying an artwork outline to the point where you can overlay the two pieces and find they look nearly identical. Dare I ask, if the outlines don't match the original pieces and don't line up, how is this tracing?

It's fine for what it's going for, outlines and all I think it looks nice! Though the fact that color splash's promo art shows they can clearly do vibrant shading while keeping the quirks of the modern style makes me wish future games had it, it's the perfect middleground

so like i'm trying to map the hair so that i can have outlines in the final model to give it some detail. i'm realizing a downside of my method tho, it's really kind of hard to map for complex shapes like this - the bangs especially lol.

the pokemon beta leaks are so good, i decided to try and give a couple of em some more proper spritework (or as well as i can at least, since pokemon's outlines are an enigma to me -w-;)

Learned a lot trying to do this. The angle of the light source was really new to me. Made all his features smaller than they are. Still, had a blast making this. Gonna be way more strict with my outlines next time 😤

Don't normally post WIP content but this may not go anywhere and I spent some time on it last night so heck it.

I think i can match the style a lot better if I draw thicker outlines.
