Why does AD&D produce many more distinct character roles and archetypes than competing systems? Because of its many modes of play: dungeon delve, wilderness travel, chainmail-type battle.... Each class impacts each mode in striking ways. Eliminate the modes, lose the archetypes!

From 2007 to 2014 Ser in my head was an empty headed party girl roller-dancing to Blondie on her Walkman. Very specific but I promise this was an archetype I witnessed growing up in the 80s.

Tails has stuck with me since Sonic 2. He's a tech archetype but he's incredibly humble. That combination is pretty cool. Plus he can fly with his tails. I always thought that was a pretty interesting feature about his design.
