Patlabor The Movie (‘89). The 2nd film gets a lot of love, but the first shouldn’t be ignored. Mamoru Oshii’s fun action/thriller has an engaging central mystery. It offers glimpses of the existential themes the director would later explore while keeping the tone light.

Recently read Out in the Open,by comics author Javi Rey based on novel by Jesús Carraro.
