Looking thru old art, realized I was trying so hard to make my characters look believably anthro that they started looking like they have almost no muzzle & flattened faces w/large chins in front & 3/4 views (though not in profiles). I think/hope I've found a better balance now!

It depends on your ink/pen settings! I work fast but definitely do take the time for stuff that require more precision. Gesture and life drawings help a lot by giving you a sense of what to capture and practicing different styles can actually be helpful to find your own!
