The cel shading also nearly fits both Abec's illustrations and scenes from the anime. If you modify the intensity, you'd basically have it.

Again the point of this thread isn't to say "can we make SAO for real?" And is more "how would we make a video game to capture SAO?"

Fun Fact: Did you know that Episode 53 of the CyKuro anime was the last episode to use traditional cel animation? Starting with Episode 54, the series would then use digital ink-and-paint animation.

Also in a slightly different art style - I used to use soft shading on all my drawings but that took about 4x the time compared to cel-shading.
