I had the sudden urge to try out different hairstyles for #LadyShiva so here she is haha
WE ARE CLOSED
NO ONE WANTS TO WORK ANYMORE
EVERYONE WANTS TO GET KILLED BY LADY SHIVA
Good morning to everyone and especially to all the folks who replied to this with "Lady Shiva."
I hope you all have a great day! https://t.co/eF3u335Cp0
@Catsnbatsncats Apart from Mistress of the Martial Arts, which already sounds badass, Shiva also got "The Deadliest Hands on Earth" in DCeased: Unkillables and that's pretty fukken rad.
(Speaking of mistresses, I always liked Zatanna's evolution from "Maid of Magic" to "Mistress of Magic")
@Priti8181 JANAM JIVAN JAGAT KA SANTAP TAP MITE SABHI OM NAM SHIVAY MAN JAPTA RAHE PANCHSHRA JAPTA RAHE PANCHSHRA LOKNATH JAGATGURU MAHESHWARA OM NAM SHIVAY
The two would be engulfed in a blinding light once it cleared the massive dragon was gone but was soon seen coiling it’s way around Akira-Shiva as the two would become one. “And we shall never be parted again!”
@stefmadarts I've got 3 dhs - 1 felhound, 1 inquisitor(there’s a very old concept of his meta, hasn’t been working on it for a long time😅) and 1 sayaad
I was sure sayaads are quite popular among dhs, somewhere on the same level as felstalkers/shivarras 🤔
... crime that can never be forgiven. If I had to choose between a softer, sappier and more human Shiva, and the two-dimensional cackling useless villainess of the 90s and New52, I'll take the former every day of the week and ask for seconds.
That don't mean I gotta like it tho.
In 2006, Gabrych was the man who wrote the first attempt at giving Shiva a new backstory. It was rushed and janky and problematic and leaves a bad taste in my mouth and, interestingly enough, was completely sandbagged the moment it came out.
... more amicably than ever before.
Shiva talks about losing Cass in this story, when they've really never been on better terms than now.
In the context of the run that this story references, the key elements of Shiva's characterization here start feeling a bit forced to me.
some ko-fi requests
nano 007, scout and engineer smoking weed, and shiva showing teacher her amogus drawing
Shiva further explains her sudden loneliness and Bruce takes her to a mini-golf course, where they spot Cassandra, Duke and Steph having a good time together, and Bruce offers a final resolution about how these kids don't belong to them, how they can and should have lives of...
To Bruce's credit, even while fighting he still genuinely tries to reach out to her, a gesture that Shiva repays by going below the belt a bunch of times, and finally all that goading pays off when Bruce snatches the knife and turns it on Shiva.
Then it gets a bit weird.
... the knife coming out, both literally and figuratively. Shiva feels that Bruce has taken Cassandra from her. And she's so mad about it that even the lettering cannot keep up for a sec.
This fight is short, like the story, but Alburquerque does a lot of good stuff with it, giving it a very nice and tangible flow from movement to movement.
Meanwhile, on the writing side, Shiva continues to taunt Bruce through and through until eventually we get to...
... he cared for her daughter. Who also makes her first appearance in this story in a photo with Duke and Steph, which prompts a rather aggressive line from Shiva.
Bruce, probably sensing that something's wrong, tries to reach out to Shiva through shared pain, grief and loss...
But going back to that first page, the second half is a real treat. I love, LOVE the idea that there's more to Shiva than just murdermurder all the time; that she's just as capable of enjoying the small things as everyone else.
Tho' the owner calling her Sandra is... a choice.
"Can you summon when you're at Esto Gaza or something"
Shiva is always the best final fantasy summon and in my head she's always running around nakey because everyday (and everywhere) is a beach day

Remember when Tynion said that fans of Babs'll get a lot of Babs this year? Well, he wasn't lying. This Babs in today's issue of The Joker, Jason's story in UL, & Cass' story in DC Festival of Asian Heroes with Steph in The Joker & Shiva's story of Urban Legends... 🥰🥰
One of these days we're gonna have to talk about how weirdly influential Andersen Gabrych's last arc in Batgirl was for Lady Shiva despite it being swept under the rug once it came out and not even mentioned for over a decade.
That day is... probably later today.
