I think if you plan on adding meta humor to your story, you should understand the aim. Games that have them execute it differently. You're not just making fun of the work or the audience but rather embracing them cynically but humorously. These four IPs are big examples.

With all this new DCU stuff I find myself a touch torn. I was one of the seven people that rather enjoyed the Snyderverse stuff, but the prospect of having a comic accurate DCU is really exciting! And it looks like that’s the direction Mr. Gunn is heading.

Prodded by fate to cross paths repeatedly with Chi Nan, Salinger saves the despairing boy by offering him a rather rare chance to stay in the industry.

Would love that instead of a venting forge scene after exiling Viktor, Jayce just stares at the fires of the forge similar to his partner with the Hexcore 🔥

He often did when deep in troubled thought, but rather than physical frustration, Jayce now only feels hollow & dark 🔥
