Final #GHliveblog for the Finale/Bartlett arc, LET’S GO
As always, I’ll use #GHliveblog if you’d like to mute it!
Ngl having Jacobi’s letter read over the montage of The Final Big Three felt like an anime and was VERY FUN #GHliveblog
A lot of parallels in my story aren’t me setting something up in Ep 5 that I’ll return to in Ep 129 – it’s me looking back and thinking “What do I have to use? Oh, that pot pie from Ep 5 would fit well!”
(I’m not good at foreshadowing, I just like callbacks!) #GHliveblog
Lucy began to realize her feelings (or at least mistake it as heartburn) at the beginning of the arc, but the suggestions of romance trailed off as the drama took over
So I was really worried that Jacobi suggesting that Graham is in love felt too sudden... #GHliveblog
I wanted to go back to showing Jacobi as a person who loves cooking so much he left his family and took on a lot of hardship—it’s his dream, it was worth the burden #GHliveblog
Expressing Jacobi’s memory as scenes he can walk through was fun!
We don’t actually see the Dimanche chefs at Dimanche very often, so it was nice to draw them harmoniously #GHliveblog
This is supposed to be in line with Jacobi’s “it’s not that the things you love aren’t burdens, it’s that they’re worth the burden” mindset
Jacobi is troublesome, but Kirby’s already knows that #GHliveblog
Just like Graham isn’t impartial when it comes to Lucy, I wanted to show that Kirby isn’t impartial when it comes to Jacobi
Kirby wants to help him!! Jacobi has people on his side!!! #GHliveblog
I needed Kirby to grab Jacobi, but I didn’t want to evoke the chef grabbing Jacobi’s shoulder?? Hopefully it looks gentler
(And yadda yadda [Ben Wyatt voice] It’s about the hands) #GHliveblog
The Apple trio origin story involved Lucy meeting Joanna by punching the creepy guy in Joanna and Walt’s tabletop group who was following Joanna home one night
And the group was like “Wow you’re a lot cooler, you can have his spot”
(Lucy’s character was named Be’ef) #GHliveblog
The Jacobi vs Walt and Joanna interaction wasn’t originally part of the script, but because their roles were so drastically diminished this arc, I wanted them to get a little more screentime #GHliveblog
Lucy unconsciously realized it in the holiday arc, but now fully realizes that Graham’s cooking has become precious to her!
And it helps allay Graham’s insecurities that he’ll never be as good a chef as he was at Dimanche—it doesn’t matter, Lucy likes his food now
#GHliveblog
Eggs weren’t a theme I had planned from the start, but I’m glad they became a theme for Lucy and Graham! #GHliveblog
Originally, Graham was supposed to make banh xeo (a Vietnamese dish to represent how Madeleine is on his side)—but while researching I found that Shokugeki no Soma had done it, and after being told the rose apple tart was also in SnS, I didn’t want to overlap again #GHliveblog
Every time I look at this panel, I hear Sherry’s “Hiii~” in Linda Belcher’s voice #GHliveblog
I don’t know who else Jacobi dated at Dimanche but it was at least Antoine, Sherry, and a bunch of the waitstaff #GHliveblog
Bc Madeleine was received so poorly in her own arc, I was kind of worried about bringing her back
So I was really happy that people were excited to see her!!
I kind of wanted her to be a heel, but bc of time restraints, we didn’t actually she her much at all...

Please I just want to draw more Brie and Heath
Also, Heath only wears monochromatic colors! There was a time I wanted to draw all the chefs with corresponding dog breeds, and Heath would’ve gotten a Dalmatian #GHliveblog
This is the root of both Lucy’s and Jacobi’s fears, which is why the bubbles turn black again #GHliveblog
No one in real life talks like this, Graham!! But an important theme, nonetheless #GHliveblog
