#OTD in 1703 died Robert Hooke - one of the best appreciators of fleas and their amazing morphology. An original copy and one of his microscopes was on display at @RMGreenwich a few years back and it’s always a treat to see the images and ‘tech’
and some moreeee with different colors (last one is a dressed morphology because i still need some more apparel and genes for that dragon)
Our work experience student @Museum_Cardiff has been sorting a fantastic collection of wall charts published in the late 1800s.
The posters shown here from Botanische Wandtafeln, show the morphology of the alga Botrydium granulatum in great detail.

Brain shape, and possibly brain function, evolved gradually in Homo sapiens. Brain morphology has reached the globularity typical for present day humans suprisingly recently (right) vs 300 ka Jebel Irhoud 1 (left)

With his vast amount of knowledge about the Morpho Mon Biology, Dr. Jacob Fischer has built the fundamentals of Morphology science.

Plz R/T and share! Friday Harbor Lab's Fish Functional Morphology Class is running THIS SUMMER. Learn how to crush stuff, scan stuff, record stuff, and identify stuff (where stuff = fishes). #fish
Seriously, you'll meet great people and learn cool things:

More evidence for terrestriality in baurusuchids. Great to see notosuchian endocast/endocranial morphology being more explored!

@Fyraee I sort of do that with most my dragon characters.
Since the whole concept behind them is to all grow in their unique ways, like eevees on steroid.
It's a good excuse to go crazy with shapes and morphology.
Today for #FossilFriday we have a VERY rare specimen. A Parapeytoia yunnanensis appendage. These species’ classification is argued in the paleo community between being an Anomalocariid and a Megacheira. Picture 4 shows the possibly morphology of each classification.
Over your break, take some time to catch up on @iobopen manuscripts. We have a variety of articles encompassing morphology, ecology, evolution, and many more.

@Revolvolutionry No worries! I always have to wonder because the morphology of elves runs a really wide gamut and it is hard to always know exactly what people mean.
To answer the question as it was asked though, "Maybe? It is towards the 'no' end but there is no real set of definitions either."
@JFD_001 @Sketchfab These are incredible! We can’t wait to exhibit your work that you’re working on for our journal booth for @iobopen & @ICB_journal at @SICBtweets ‘s Austin 2020 conference. #3D #science #scientific #biology #ecology #morphology #evolution #biologists #biologymajors #openaccess
New paper out in morphology special collection of @EntsocAmerica ISD journal! We found out (for the first time), "silk production in the first larval instar of the tobacco hornworm (M. sexta) using CLSM corroborated with transcriptomic data." RT, please!

The MU18 molar from Northern Vietnam, mosaic of archaic and modern traits, unclear transition from H. erectus to H. sapiens in teeth size and morphology. Associated fauna extends from late Middle Pleistocene to Late Pleistocene (F. Demeter et al 2004) -- Could it be a Denisovan?
Why is the structure of human hippocampus so confusing? With detailed modelling of topology in BigBrain 3D histology we find simplicity, as well as some surprising links between subfields and not only micro-scale features but also meso-scale morphology!
