Early depictions of Lugia sometimes show it with black-coloured spines. I find it interesting how this persisted into gen 3's sprites, despite the movie and box-art depictions (perhaps the most visible/well-known early Lugia appearances!) having blue spines.

EDIT: A scene of Old Man Hunger whistling was also cut from the 1&2 Season DVD. Originally, he was planned to "whistle a happy tune" the guys at Games made him whistle "Hall of The Mountain King" as a reference to Fritz Lang's M, implying the joke has pedophilia overtones.
