I would love to see a stylized animation based on the LOTR books, like the 70s cartoon did, but given full time. An Arthur Rackham-esque style like this would be so beautiful.
(I feel like we'll never see the Barrow-Wight and Bombadils onscreen, any other way. 😔)

There's a tale from the Solway Firth of a mermaid who fell in love with a sailor whom she rescued when his ship ran aground. She slipped a gold ring on his finger and promised to return, but after many years, he died, alone.

In Greek mythology, Iris is a sky goddess and the personification of the rainbow. She is also a messenger of the gods, travelling from one end of earth to the other at the speed of wind, connecting the gods to humanity.

The Three Heads in a Well is an old English fairy tale. A kind girl meets an old man who is guardian of a well. He bids her do whatever the 3 golden heads in the well ask & so she washes them. They then each in turn accord her good fortune. #FairytaleTuesday Img: Arthur Rackham
@TheRena44620640 I totally forgot about the Goblin Market. Thanks for the mental nudge! Haven't read it in decades. Will have to read your thoughts. (Didn't see it in my feed, sorry!) Have to add, Rackham's illustrations for Rossetti's words are a perfect match. 🙂
In a Flemish tale a witch and a cat who lived in a tree almost always went for a walk around the village at night. If they didn't, they had met a traveller who was unaware of their existence. The witch danced in the branches while the cat dug a grave.

"And all the spirits sang now together:
In death and blood,
In ruin and tears,
Find the Seven.
Listen now, attend and see,
Tell us, poor thing, are you not glad?
Find the Seven."
(C. de Coster "The Legend of Thyl Ulenspiegel")
