not sure if this is just a personal pref, but ACKCHYUALLY grey soles have been a thing since sa1. while sa2 did have a bit of white on his soles, that was because of his soap shoes. the sa2 demo model sports his regular footwear, showing grey soles (top right)

It would be if SEGA wanted it to be. But it doesn't HAVE to be. Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't a rehash of SA1 for instance. It was it's own game with it's own identity despite sharing a similar game design formula.

reanimated bf's idle was suppose to be based off of an sa1 render/idle animation but i didn't know how to draw bf that well at the time so i just reused some assets so uhh
