According to an editor’s note in SSS the Japan-exclusive arcade game "SegaSonic The Hedgehog" is considered canon and takes place at some point during Sonic’s youth.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Knuckles' Chaotix! Here, players were reunited with Knuckles the Echidna and introduced to Vector, Espio and Charmy. Mighty also joined in on the fun as a veteran from SegaSonic the Hedgehog!
