The shader templates are getting subsurface scattering.
But this isn't the "Subsurface Scattering" that most other shaders use. This is a "proper" implementation of SSS.

I will also be adding transmission, which is more what we have seen before.

Heres a comparison.

EDIT I added some subsurf between the highlight and the shadows on the skin to make it more realistic

subsurface scattering is so pretty

Topology for another commission I'm working on that will be realtime (i.e. no subsurf). I've cut this one to support normals editing.

Hi! I’m Matcha. I love the colors you use. That subsurface terminal in the shadow of the wing on the dragon kid is just <3

I forgot to post another art tip: The way I color my art, I tend to desaturate my shadows and add this singular saturated band around the shadow, this is called subsurface scattering. It happens a lot in skin due to the skin having blood

A little Procreate painting to try and work with stylizing subsurface scattering in painting and lineart! Definitely getting some ideas for my next traditional piece too.

I just forgot to do some subsurface scattering so it's nothing major but absolutely enough to shit me

I'm still experimenting with the shading, highlights and subsurface scattering, one day I'll be good at it

The Radar Imager for Mars' subsurface experiment (RIMFAX) is a ground-penetrating radar on . It uses radar waves to see geologic features under the surface, and can make detections perhaps dozens of meters/yards underneath the ground.
