i finished un whitewashing the tales of friends chibis i resized reid, veigue, and schwann and edited their lining a little bit to fix it but i might just redraw them entirely later rn tho they're done.
reminder that unless someone is going out of their way to say "this character isn't [ethnicity in canon]" dark skinned edits hurt literally no one, they come from a place of wanting to see ourselves in media like everyone else which is not on the same level as whitewashing
I wish they would've put that much thought and effort on her casting before whitewashing her
hey to the folks doing the pixel generator thingy, found a good one that actually goes on the color in the picture rather than whitewashing. check it out: https://t.co/z8BB8PXzus
somewon acused me of whitewashing my own character because i drew her tanner in some other earlier drawings...... imagine whitewashing a white oc
We’re not “obsessed” we care about representation.
The whitewashing has become so frequent that Aisha and Flora are white like the rest of the Winx in the art.
This brutally impacts how children see themselves in media, and it’s sad you don’t understand the deep issue with that https://t.co/kTaKAqHPco
@ShapedInternet (it's whitewashing of my own character ._.)
Ola chicos hoy viene a hacer una cancelación a una dibujante extremadamente famosa de instagram llamada d0m1_uwu

// Whitewashing
I brushed off most of these things because Jesse being mistaken as a white guy with a tan instead of Apache is actually quite a common misconception. It's kind of depressing how common fan art like this is.
100% prepared to get canceled for this but some of y’all have no idea what whitewashing actually means... #kaeya #whitewashing #colortheory (2nd image is to show the values better)
People need to realize that bright lighting does not equal whitewashing...context is key. Look at Steven here. His skin looks dark, but with cues from his outfit and regular palette it’s clear that it’s just the lighting..This is how colour works. Lighting can change everything.
@AngelicDust411 He is - he’s black, Korean, and white. But Connor always had darker skin, right from his first appearance. The way he’s drawn for the 90s variant is blatant whitewashing
