Honestly? Even if you use a free model, you can really spice it up by using assets. I always LOVE doing that before a stream and seeing what I can find. I highly recommend it! Even just changing the colors, there's so much you can find!

But there's also a very involved process for taking a generated character and translating them to ACTUALLY USABLE game assets. For instance, Ekoi's generation had to be scaled down, cleaned up, reinterpreted for different angles, and even modelled. AI isn't going to give me that.
