An alternative is do what the Bluth flix did and change the character's colour schemes slightly to correspond with the lighting. Again, the PS2 game Herdy Gerdy had this style down to a T.

Easily one of my favorite least good animated movies. Despite being a film that was hobbled by its own lofty ambitions and the studio focus testing it to death, the artistry stills shines through.

My favorite book has to be the Rock Jaw one. It oozes a lot of Don Bluth vibes, the possum kids are my favorite characters, and Smiley Bone, of all characters, gets a ton of development, something completely unexpected. Speaking of, Smiley and Bartleby are totally me and my dog.
