I've never been much of a crosshatcher tbh. I could never get it to look right. Like these are my recents and more or less what my coloring tends towards when I draw casually (all done with the marker setting on procreate other than the design on adams shirt which is 6B pencil)

Here's some examples of what the commissions will kinda end up lookin like! Generally to me sketch commission means a more monochromatic approach with less cleanup on the lines and a simple bg, the crosshatching is just kinda a mood thing but YEA

I learned that these lines aren't just little crosshatch areas to show the eye is more recessed on the inside.

It is. And they do.

But! They also follow the rhythm of the orbit. Which is the bottom of the eye socket. It sounds obvious, but I had an "aha!" moment.

I am heavily biased, but Ikeno’s character art for SSF4 onwards is my favorite of the series. The crosshatched sketch and ink aesthetic such a cool style I don’t see much of nowadays.
