The Wonderful Farm written by French author Marcel Aymé & illustrated by Maurice Sendak was published in 1951. It's the story of 2 little girls who have magical adventures with talking animals from their farm & the nearby woods. It was only the second book Sendak illustrated.

Such an absolute shock to hear of the passing of the great John Paul Leon. His work always brought such engrossing atmosphere & detail to everything he illustrated. One of my comic heroes. My deepest condolences to his friends and family 😔

is by Tove Jansson for "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (Lewis Carroll, 1966). Carroll's surreal & bizarre world was an ideal match for the creator of the Moomins. This is my favourite edition of this perennial, dazzlingly, brilliantly, illustrated.
