I love this. Jay Axer and Spaz in this exact era are the biggest inspirations for how I draw Sonic, and honestly how I draw in general. Steven Butler was cool too, but those other two were on another level.

Genesis Of A Hero: Part 4 takes heavy cues from the animated cinematics for Sonic CD done by Toei Animation. Such as Spaz perfectly emulating the style and Tracy Yardley drawing Sonic with similar features. Like his sharp quills and sphere hands.

The first Best of Sonic volume's cover was indeed drawn by Spaz before Rafa Knight took over for future volumes. The only other occurrence where he emulated a 3D/CG at style was his cover for Sonic Universe 25, though that started out as a pencil sketch.
