Fun Fact Even though Melon Ball doesn't need to eat and lacks a mouth to do so, he is still able to take in nutrients by using his powers to copy plants and perform photosynthesis.

He is unable to "eat" like an animal would as he lacks the digestive organs necessary.

I'd like to point out an instance of Finn using magic - The Tower. PB offers a scientific explanation for his arm, but at the end of the day, it is magic. Not caused by the grass flower. Finn's raw emotional energy synergised science and magic together to create his prosthesis.
