I think threads of fate (aka dewprism) doesn't get the appreciation it deserves from the lowpoly community. in my opinion it's up there with vagrant story and megaman legends as the best 3D graphics on the PS1, and it still plays quite well for a PS1 game

It would be really cool if FF 1 was remade in the style of DQ11, mainly old school turn-based combat and in 3D, maybe with an expanded script, and that the character models were based directly off of the Amano designs (like with Vagrant Story with Yoshida's designs for example)

Just look at this stuff coming from Ivalice concept arts. We are lucky the art director ended up working on FFXIV, but I wanted to see more of this for sure. I would have loved to see another dark fantasy take on this like in Vagrant Story
