Like despite the occasional overlap with her hair it's pros far outweigh the cons. The contrast of the black draws the eye from her body to hands and then the hands stand out more for the same reason. Spider-Man also does this break-up thing and is all about strong poses.

To properly answer the question, I chose this environment because, having mostly grown up in an arid environment, this lake always seemed fantastical. I always knew Suihira would have that environment. It contrasts well with the dry desert in which most of the comic takes place.
