I'd like bring attention to an obscure and underrated game for the NDS; Draglade!
It's an action, platforming, RPG game with elements of beat-em-ups, fighting and rhythm games.
I love the character designs and gameplay, but I've never heard another person even mention it.
@Becca_Sizemore Genesis seems to be a treasure trove of these unfortunate situations.
(Also on a gameplay side of things:
Man.. the Genesis/Mega Drive version is so bad compared to the PC-Engine CD original)

gameplay is subjective because it really depends on what I like, mainly a rushdown/all rounder with a command grab in 2d/anime or a grappler in 3d.
Every time the game length/gameplay hours debate comes up I think of this image.
