Generic name aside, Spooky was probably the best Pac-Man antagonist. (Not that there's much of a competition)

His personality isn't anything special, but his design is really cool especially in Pac-Man Monsters.

In various interviews, Toru Iwatani highlighted a number of sources as his inspirations for the creation of Pac-Man.

The ghosts are said to be inspired by Casper and オバケのQ太郎 (Obake no Kyutarō). The antics between them and Pac-Man are inspired by Popeye and Tom & Jerry.
