I upscaled the sound test icon from Sonic 2 just for goofs n' gaffs.

I went ahead and made the official artwork of Zero (as seen in Dedede's tweet) transparent.

Also put it through an upscaler, to get a bigger version.

I tried some different settings but all of them look nearly equally uncanny
1) 8x interpolation with depth perception
2) the gif I'm using (each frame is upscaled with waifu 2x)
3) 4x interpolation (40 fps)
4) 8x interpolation with cartoon depth and smooth down interpolation

By having the upscaled pixels (here its 6times, the pattern crosses them at 3 pixels each to disrupt the eye). This is not yet perfect of course, but create a more blurry look I think that lets the straight pixels smooth out.

Tried messing around with the Dain gif upscaler with mixed results. This one turned out alright, old pegging animation with Helia and Johan from Musikalgenius back in 2018. 20fps looked best for this one, otherwise things got a bit finicky
