Gremlins, the text adventure on the C64 is a strange one. I mean it's not a good text adventure. ie: it has a limited and inconsistent vocabulary. But it follows the basic beats of the movie well enough that, as a fan of the movie, I really enjoyed going through it. 😁

KARNOV: Here's the ZX Spectrum cover for the 1988 action platform game. A port of the 1987 arcade game from Data East this also came to other formats, did you ever go on a quest for the Lost Treasure of Babylon?

One of the best educational titles on the C64 is Donald Ducks Playground. Donald can work in one of four jobs to earn money to pay for fun items for his nephews top use in the playground. Nothing Earth-shattering in terms of gameplay, but I actually kinda enjoy the work/games. 🙂

Hey, hold the phone..
Are you suggesting that this is better than the original Leader-Board Golf on the C64?

As a kid, I remember the demo C64 at the shop in town. I only ever remember seeing it playing International Soccer, Summer Games, and Tales of the Arabian Nights. I don't remember anyone getting past the first level, so I always kinda thought of it as a mediocre platform game. 🤔

I'm actually not sure if I ever tried Gryzor on the C64. 🤔 ..It's on my list now. 😋 But I can tell you that, for sure, I did play Platoon, and it was glorious. (Damned hard, but I was a kid with too much time .. I was able to make it to the last level.) 👍

Looking at Lemon64, it sounds like Artic's World Cup Football really is buggy and awful. 😐

But I've always been of the opinion that Internation Soccer was always the way to go on the C64. 😁

You know, Combat School on the C64 is really quite a cool game. It's like Hyper Sports or Track 'n Field, but with guns. 😁 It's mostly the target-range events that I enjoy with this one. The first stage, with all the joystick waggling is fun - real hard to do with keyboard FWIW.

Trying out the c64 palette. Mad respect to the people who had to do this stuff back in the day. Much harder than lots of other limited palettes

Everything about C64 game Shadowfire (Denton Designs, 1984) screams 'Saturday morning cartoon that should have been' & it is my impossible dream that Netflix will one day bring it about
