@GeorgeRottkamp What I've noticed when I do backgrounds, I tend to base it off of either: the characters most prominent colour, or the lighting/palette
Like, if the character and the lighting is both warm I choose whatever it vaguely mirrors on the colour wheel for the bg
@JeejJeejJeej I tend to start with deciding where I want the hairline to be, and then I work my way downward from there. For example, even though there's natural inconsistencies when drawing him after a while, Stolas' hair still has a distinct shape thanks to a defined split in the hairline.

In-game we had the conversation why other characters tend to assume that Rin is a woman and I drew them when they still were human and we all agreed that for SOME reason they look more masculine with long hair
