From video games to movies and even the old cartoons, this colorful Eeyore we see in toys does not appear. The only consistency between the two is his pink bow, and maybe a slight blueish tint to the gray we usually see him in.

Don't focus on consistency. The more you get into it, beginner or expert. Do expect changes. I recently did a remake of an old piece I did years ago.. and the changes are remarkable. I didn't practice on it everyday, cause of jobs, personal life, etc. but just try!
