One of my favourite Cornish folktales is The Mermaid of Zennor. A mermaid falls in love with Mathey Trewella, the best singer of the Parish. One day he decides to live with her, they disappear and are never seen again on dry land. 🌊🧜‍♀️

Bloody Bones is a water demon haunting deep ponds, oceans & old marl pits which often became filled with water to form ponds where it dragged children into the depths. Children were told to "keep away from the marl-pit or bloody bones will have you."
