Working on some new bird merch. Is the engraved effect better darker, lighter, or without an engraved effect at all?

色々あるけど、DARKER THAN BLACK -黒の契約者-の『HOWLING』はやっぱ外せないなぁ、フェイ達の眼光やタバコの赤統一もそうだけど、タイトルの入り方もいいよね
銀はかわいい
@chunksofplum You had my interest piqued, so I messed about with that as an option too
I think i prefer your method for darker base shading 👀 I did also try 25% opacity, which looked nice on the lighter areas, but looked invisible on darker areas, so it's all a balancing act
@ilbvilbv @forester2277 In my case, it's lighter grey fur on the bottom and darker grey fur on the top.
Northern Dwarf Siren
Northern Dwarf Siren has brown eyes and waist-length green hair that gets darker towards the ends, with yellow stripes on her bangs and brown spots on the top of her head. She has two orange gills coming out of the hair on each side of her head.
also im just tired of seeing "yeah i can draw poc!" in toyhouse art threads and their example is just like this. like the same process they use for white characters except they just throw a slightly darker tone on them (never ur characters actual tone.) im TIRED ok
Little demonstration. Pre-furring and post furring. I don't really have an exact method for adding fur but usually I paint the body flat like skin, then make a second pass with a lighter or darker color and either painting each hair or marks that give the impression of fur
There are deeper and darker things than you #BSD #BungouStrayDogs
@guiltygremlin He's Alma from yumekuro. The darker version of him is called Karma💜
Art tip: A darker colour used in Soft Light layer mode makes shadows in lighter areas pop
just be mindful of areas with a darker base colour
@SNKPofficial i feel like orochi yashiro should have darker skin like his original if i remember correctly? It made the contrast way more clear that this wasn't regular yashiro
Daphne
My main influence was one of her The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo designs. Originally I had a darker colour for her jacket like in Curse of the 13th Ghost but realized a lighter colour looked better with the darker dress.
Velma
I made the sweater yellow as a nod to her A Pup Named Scooby-Doo design while the darker hoodie is influenced by the one image we've seen of the upcoming Velma series on HBO Max. The alien on her sweater is because of my idea of making Velma an Occult Otaku.
