Commanded by Captain Cadoux, who requests for support were denied, they held out overnight.

Wellesley skirmished forward, with KGL, Portuguese, also Light Infantry & 95th Rifles from the Battalion of Detachments.

The pressure threatened the French flanks.

At Fuentes the Light Division rescued units cut off by French cavalry, Wellington was closest to a defeat here than any other day I believe.

The Light Div retired in good order, in & out of square 📯

He achieved notoriety for his skill with the rifle during the retreat from Corunna, where he shot General Colbert & an aide at a long distance.

(the exact distance is the subject of debate)

Cadoux had led 100 men in a brave defence against a Division of attacking French.

Calls for support were ignored & French were mown down on the bridge.

The fighting was in heavy rain & only when they fell back was Cadoux killed.
