It made me realize that you can break the muzzle curve and still make it look good, depending on the expression, since it gives them more attitude

If you're designing sci-fi weapons or outfits, when in doubt, just straighten most of the curves and add bevels and you're halfway there lmao
If anything, speaking from experience, making a flat render in pixel art can be EVEN MORE TIME CONSUMING considering I have to check:
-no pixel is misaligned
-clean-up the outlines
-close up gaps
-make smooth curves
-do _manual_ antialiasing in cases.
