I'm pretty sure this was from a piece of fanart made ages ago by Ruian Xiaoguo depicting a Motormaster design with a Kenworth K100 vehicle mode. When AoE started getting promotional material someone saw what was Galvatron's mode, desaturated the original art and used that.

I made this tutorial super fast. to explain it better. I basically use a fairly desaturated base color. one that suits the environment. then I paint without much care the reflections. I duplicate the layer. I put it in "overlay" mode. And then I put some finishing touches on it

you’d definitely fall for it lol there’s a lot of red flags to look for here, but you can’t notice them all without a side by side

- desaturated
- beta gf design (diff hair, permanent blush)
- tail (the gray thing between the two) connects the lure and speaker

less saturated colors were shaded with darker desaturated *neutral colors

and then saturated tones were used as transition colors.

the lips are very saturated so no transition color was used. instead, a dark color slightly at the saturated spectrum is used as ambient occlusion?

Made some solid progress on my piece, which MAINLY involved deciding on a bloody colour scheme. I desaturated a bit (although I'm sure the colours will begin to pop as I shade), and really decided to go to down with the whole division between the two "versions".
