Among my favourite animals are #ICHTHYOSAURS - the 'fish lizards' - and it's always a joy to look at their fossils (we have many of them in the UK). So I _loved_ compiling current thinking on them for my new book Ancient Sea Reptiles, out now from @NHM_London and @SmithsonianBook

hi #LateNightWrite!
Collecting and finding fossils brings me joy, but in terms of creating it's seeing my characters realised both in prose and visual. I've become increasingly happier about how I depict Yara and the things she does https://t.co/tTexArLEoM
@DanPalaeon1 The Strawberry Bank Lagerstätte not only preserves relatively complete, articulated fossils but preserves them with 3D preservation, offering valuable insight into the anatomy of the animals in the ecosystem.
the fossils in the chasm remind me of the dessicated shell/drops from the consecrated beasts
i imagine those were similar creatures except they didn't evolve and instead were immortalised as fossils lol
@sott_ave i’d love to see what you’d come up with! always wanted to give him some sort of weapon or ability (something related to amber fossils…) but have been completely stumped =_= he’s just a Dude
@Lanakuma Yess, my fossils and my dog to find them, reminds me of that pokepalago artwork
My new book - Ancient Sea Reptiles - is out. It's a beautifully illustrated, comprehensive review of the ancient sea #reptiles of the #Triassic #Jurassic and #Cretaceous, and here's a discussion of what it includes... https://t.co/FJ5jm5ckCw #books #zoology #fossils #evolution
@KTVBJoe Oryctodromeus is super sick. I've thrown it into so many projects for clients over the years. It's one of the only species to have proof that it burrowed and it also displays a unique a family structure. I just wish Idaho's soil was more conductive to preserve fossils.
What if the gen 8 fossils unfused!

It's clearly added. There are no fossils in that cement. And now it's certainly been covered with modern day cement. Hiding Evidence. Here's the real data. No blocks come from the head. but there's a mushroom shaped recarved limestone underneath the few inches of cement.
February 19, 1792, birthday of Roderick Impey Murchison, geologized in old Scotland. Based on his observations of fossils he proposed a new geologic period between the Ordovician & Devonian naming it Silurian after an ancient tribe in Wales
