One final follow-up for all those who added to the thread: I just found another still-life by the marquise, and lo & behold it shows a (mother?) bird feeding her young. Perhaps the mother & child fly motif isn't such a far-fetched hypothesis after all? And with that, we're done!

In my heart of hearts, this was Susca hoping to open up to Siren about the fake prophecy maybe. Ik it's probably far-fetched, but I think the lack of communication on both their ends (Susca on the true nature of the prophecy, Siren on his doubts) each played a large role

I think the moon in Donkey Kong Country Returns is supposed to be a different moon. It's way smaller and looks different than the moon in Odyssey.

And we already have precedent for Mario's world having multiple, smaller moons from other games, so it's not far-fetched.
