Dec 3rd - Dressing for the Carnival (1877) by Winslow Homer. The man in costume is dressed for Junkonnu, a Boxing Day festival celebrated in the Caribbean and American South. The sombre mood and the childen's flags hint at the realities of the "American Dream".
