I always wondered if the pokemon anime kind of removed the more dangerous scarier side of the original games moving after. Because of how different and rougher the gen 1 early works. Pokemon were more like monsters like in a jrpg.
I honestly never liked what the anime does.

drew an old, defunct OC of mine! so old i don't even remember what her name was! she was in a setting with so many floating islands and ships in the sky. very dA. very PS2-era JRPG.

Game 8: Dark Deity

A very enjoyable SRPG. Sometimes frustrating when dealing with particular enemies. Story was pretty standard for a JRPG. The characters were all great and all felt like they had a reason to be in the party. Maps felt unnecessarily large, though.

#34 - Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden (2008)

Easily the best RPG of the 360/PS3 gen. When you chip away the nearly endless amount of jokes, references, and asset flips you find an incredibly competent and perfectly paced JRPG.

Please play it! It has some of the best characters that I ever experienced in a JRPG. The narrative tone was mature, witty and engrossing and the combat was super incredible. So make sure you scoop it up!
