PC98ゲームの全盛期、ゲームを終了することを「DOSに戻る」と表現していた。シングルタスクなので再びMS-DOSのシェルを操作するには、ゲームを終了しなければならなかったから。(子プロセスとしてシェルを呼ぶというの手もなくはない)
名残で近年でも終了を「Windowsに戻る」と表現するゲームがあった.
昔も似たような事考えてたらしい(23年前、PC9801にて作成 [MS-DOS 640x400pixel 4096色中の任意の16色使用])
