Creatures of #Mancer: Vodyanoy (Slavic)
A water spirit often equated to Nix and other cautionary creatures, the vodyanoy can become a tutelary spirit of sorts if treated right. Though when wronged, the comparisons become all too real, and even more, damaging more than just lives.
Creatures of #Mancer: Varkolak (Slavic)
A dangerous undead with traits matching both werewolves and vampires. Said to be formed in death after sacrilegious life, these bestial creatures thrive on flesh, with a taste for human livers. In some contexts, said to bring eclipses.
Creatures of #Mancer: Tsuchigumo (Japanese)
A spider yokai often living in isolation in forests and mountains. Much like the yorogumo, it relies on illusion to lure prey in but is capable of much more varied deception and ambition than driving people in by inciting lust.
Creatures of #Mancer: Spriggan (Cornish)
Grotesque looking fae folk said to be ghosts of giants, their small stature betraying their strength. Usually having an unpleasant disposition, they delight in working mischief to any who have offended them. Sometimes confused with dryads.
Creatures of #Mancer: Sphinx (Egypt/Greek)
A being of nobility and curiosity, they are occasionally bound to locations, such as tombs and vaults, to stand guard for payment of knowledge. They usually issue challenges to ones who wish to pass, the type depending on disposition.
Creatures of #Mancer: Selkie (Celtic)
Therianthrope able to change between a seal and human form by donning or doffing its skin. While this change can happen only so often, Selkies take the opportunity to partake in human revelries before changing back, if they find their skin.
Creatures of #Mancer: Qilin (Chinese)
A hooved dragonid, the appearance of which was confused with that of a giraffe. With its scales taking on colors from a variety of elements and its auspicious features, it is thought to be a noble creature, the power of which can be deceiving
Creatures of #Mancer: Pamola (Abenaki)
A bird spirit causing storms and cold weather, taking whole mountains for themselves to call their own. Mostly solitary, lest mortals would make their way without permission up the side of its elevated home.
Creatures of #Mancer: Pabilsag (Mesopotamia)
A tutelary spirit, living on and empowered by its association as the Sagittarius in astrology. Embodying many dualities, the strongest of which are war and hunting juxtaposed with healing. AKA the wild bull with multicoloured legs.
Creatures of #Mancer: Nuckelavee (Orcadian)
A demon the guise of a twisted combination of man and horse. Its breath wilts anything nearby and its very being spreads plague. Hostile and malevolent, there aren't many ways to control it, especially when it returns to the sea.
Creatures of #Mancer: Night Raven (Nordic)
A supernatural raven, formed of souls of the restless dead not buried, with souls heavy with sin. Sapient, they fly through the night, leading people astray with the aid of their limited magic. Innocent blood returns it to human form.
Creatures of #Mancer: Nidhogg (Norse)
A massive serpentine dragon gnawing at the roots of the world tree. Due to this, it constantly moves in and out of the Veil, most often found chewing on corpses in the realm of Hel. Its venom is potent enough to stunt the growth of the tree.
Creatures of #Mancer: Myrmecoleon (Mediterranean)
Thought to be a translation error, this twist of beasts is fierce and powerful, much more than its size would imply. Much like the insect its name has been lent to, it has an uncanny mastery over earth and soil.
Creatures of #Mancer: Mothman (N. America)
A tall bipedal winged humanoid. With its gleaming eyes, many who've spotted one have mistaken it for an owl. Despite its large relative size, it is able to reach speeds rivalling even the fastest mundane birds.
Creatures of #Mancer: Lycanthrope (Central Europe)
Hybrid humanoid, somewhere in between man and wolf. Transforming between these two extremes under the light of the full moon, lycanthropes sapience during the transformation varies individually. Distinct from Skinwalkers.
Creatures of #Mancer: Lievo (Finnish)
A dedicated shapeshifter, usually serving as a familiar of witches, shamans and the wisened. Lievo can take nigh any shape, though most often seen in the form reflecting their owner, such as ravens, eagles, wyrms, snakes, or even dragons.
Creatures of #Mancer: Khepri (Egyptian)
Scarab-faced deity said to about the dawn by rolling the sun up to the sky. Thus it has been attributed to be a creator, a protector, a sun-god, and god of resurrection. Whichever attribute holds the truest, it certainly brings change.
Creatures of #Mancer: Kelpie (Scottish)
A water spirit living in rivers. Most often seen in the guise of a dark horse, they have been known to shapeshift. Despite its unassuming outward appearance, they delight in drowning and feasting on humans. Similar to nixies.
